Who wouldn’t want to give a deserving animal a loving home during the holiday season? From now through Sunday, Jan. 1, the Pennsylvania SPCA will offer a variety of discounted animal adoptions as part of its Ho, Ho, Home for the Holidays adoption promotion.
As a special incentive to potential adopters, the adoption fee will be waived on most dogs (excluding Good Samaritan dogs and puppies under 6 months) beginning on Black Friday, Nov. 25 and continuing until Christmas Day, Dec. 25. Adults cats will be offered for $20, kittens (6 months and younger) for $75.
“During the holiday season we want to find good, loving homes for the hundreds of animals in our shelters who are waiting to be adopted,” said CEO Susan Cosby. “This is a perfect time to give a homeless cat or dog the love and warmth of a family.”
Adopters must fill out adoption applications, meet with counselors for application review and approval, show proof of identification and bring a copy of their lease or their landlord’s phone number if they rent so the shelter can verify if pets are allowed.
The Adoption Center, located at 350 E. Erie Avenue, Philadelphia, is open weekdays from 1 to 8 p.m. and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 pm.
