Humane Law Enforcement Officers Rescue Dogs from Grooming Shop

On Saturday, November 14, 2009, the Pennsylvania SPCA Department of Humane Law Enforcement executed a search warrant at Kristie’s Canine Professional Grooming, located on the 6700 block of Martins Mill Rd. in north Philadelphia. The officers rescued eight small breed dogs from the shop, including Boston Terriers, Shih Tzus and a Pomeranian. Kristie Mitchell, the owner of the shop, was previously convicted of animal cruelty in September 2009. Mitchell was arrested at the scene and surrendered the eight dogs to the Pennsylvania SPCA. She was issued a citation for lack of veterinary care, second offense. Additional charges are pending.
