Animal Care and Control Team Powered by the PSPCA

On December 1, 2008, the City of Philadelphia awarded its animal control contract to the PSPCA. The contract for the Animal Care and Control Team Powered by the PSPCA (ACCT) went into effect on January 1, 2009. PSPCA's Proposal to the City of Philadelphia in response to the City's Request for Proposals

ACCT Powered by the PSPCA is led by Medical Director Dr. Ravi Murarka; Director of Animal Control Tara Schernecke; Manager of Lifesaving Natalie Smith; and Manager of Customer Service Myriam Leriche.

Medical Care

All animals coming into the ACCT Operations Center receive a complete medical evaluation and necessary vaccinations. Animals in need of critical care are transported to the PSPCA's animal hospital at its Philadelphia Adoption Center.

Adoptions

In addition to the shelter at Pennsylvania SPCA headquarters, dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and other adoptable companion animals can be found at ACCT's Adoption Center at 111 W. Hunting Park Ave. The ACCT Adoption Center is open on Thursday and Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from Noon - 5:00 PM. Emergency Preparedness

Are you and your pets ready for an emergency or disaster? The City of Philadelphia's Office of Emergency Management has established guidelines for people and companion animals.
