Our headquarters Adoption Center, a state-of-the-art facility located at 350 E. Erie Avenue in Philadelphia, was modeled after a greenhouse. This means glass-block kennels, heated floors, air conditioning and glorious amounts of natural light. Consider it the pet version of rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights.
Our Philadelphia Adoption Hours are: Monday - Friday, 1 P.M. until 8 P.M. and Saturday - Sunday, 10 A.M. until 5 P.M. The adoption center is closed on all major holidays.
To adopt from the PSPCA you will need one form of identification which includes your name and current address. And, if you rent, landlord approval is required. As an added benefit, the PSPCA is giving new pet parents a ShelterCare Gift insurance policy if you provide your email at the time of adoption or call shelter care within 24 hours of completing the adoption. The ShelterCare Gift provides accident and illness protection for 30 days starting on the date of your adoption. After the 30 days, you can continue your insurance policy at your own expense by contacting ShelterCare at 1-866-375-PETS or by visiting their website.
The adoption fee is $50 for cats over six months; $75 for kittens and adult dogs; and $125 for puppies under six months. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, checks (with ID) and debit cards. All adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, microchip, Keystone ID tag, collar, three weeks of free clinic care and this year's round of innoculations.

Some pets need extra help to be prepared for placement into a permanent home. The PSPCA is always looking for happy endings for our pets and are grateful for partnerships with 501(c)3 certified rescue agencies affiliated with ABRA (All Breed Rescue Association) or national or regional clubs.
