Save A Life Medical Fund

bailey-2The Pennsylvania SPCA’s Save A Life Medical Fund was established in 2013 to help provide additional resources for extraordinary treatment and advanced veterinary care or surgery for PSPCA’s animals rescued from inhumane conditions with extreme illness or injury, to restore them to health prior to being placed for adoption in loving homes.

PSPCA provides medical care and spay/neuter surgery for rescued dogs and cats prior to adoption, in addition to affordable public spay/neuter and wellness services for local pet owners. Our resources are strained with limited veterinary staff, and the general medical care requirements for PSPCA’s adoptable animals. Most of the dogs and cats who come to PSPCA are medically treated on site by our caring staff of experts but occasionally, a gentle dog or cat is brought to us from a grave living situation and our veterinarian discovers that the animal has a serious medical condition that may have been left untreated for years. These critically ill animals are rescued by our team of humane law enforcement officers.

Helping abandoned animals is an important part of PSPCA’s mission but the expense is sometimes cost prohibitive and puts a strain on our budget. The Save A Life Medical Fund offers the resources needed for those animals who require extraordinary medical efforts which would otherwise be beyond our means. It can literally make the difference between life and death for an animal, or provide greater quality of life by saving a damaged limb rather than amputation. Funds are used to cover expenses for extraordinary costs of advanced medical treatment or surgery, performed by outside specialized veterinarians as needed. With your help, the transformation for these orphaned animals is nothing short of a miracle. Help us provide advanced medical treatment for animals in need.
