Clear the Shelters 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pennsylvania SPCA will be hosting a Clear the Shelters event unlike ever before. We are pleased to offer a more personalized and socially distant adoption experience than in years past.

In order to comply with current COVID-19 safety precautions all adoptions will be done by appointment only. Adopters will be able to pre-register, complete all necessary paperwork, and be matched with their ideal animal without ever having to come into the shelter. Once a match has been made, potential adopters will book an appointment with our highly trained adoptions team on either Saturday, August 29th from 9am to 5pm or Sunday, August 30th from 9am to 5pm.

During the appointment, adopters will be allowed to meet with and adopt the animal of their choosing.

All adoptions will receive a discount of $50 off the regular adoption fee regardless of species, age, or breed.

Adoption appointment slots are limited and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Sign up to pre-register and reserve your spot now by clicking the following link:

FAQ:

What do I need to bring to my adoption appointment?

All potential adopters need to bring a working smartphone which we will use to complete your adoption. If you do not have a working smartphone, we will not be able to process the adoption. If you are adopting a dog, the dog must leave the facility with an appropriately fitting leash and collar/harness. If you do not want to bring your own items, we have them for sale. Cats must leave the facility in an appropriate carrier. If you do not have one, you can purchase one at the time of adoption.

If I’m adopting a dog and already have a dog, do I need to bring my dog with me?

Yes! Your dog(s) must be present at the time of the adoption interaction. Your dog(s) must also be up to date on their vaccinations and you will be required to show proof of current vaccinations prior to your adoption appointment.

Do I need to bring my kids to meet the animals?

We do require all children under 18 that reside in the home or visit frequently to meet any potential dog adoption candidates. We do not require children in the home to meet potential cat adoption candidates.
