The Pennsylvania SPCA is asking for the public’s help finding the individual or individuals responsible for the shooting of a dog overnight.
An officer with ACCT Philly was initially dispatched to the scene on the 1200 block of South 54th Street last night for reports of a dog hit by a car. Upon the dog’s arrival at a local emergency veterinary hospital, it was discovered that she instead was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The Pennsylvania SPCA’s Animal Law Enforcement team was contacted immediately and has taken over both the investigation and the care of the dog.
It is believed, based upon evidence and blood found in the street where the incident occurred, that the dog was initially shot in the street and crawled to a porch of a nearby home. The dog was found on the front steps of the property by a Good Samaritan.
The Pennsylvania SPCA’s Animal Law Enforcement team is asking anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of those responsible to please contact the organization’s cruelty hotline immediately, 866-601-7722 or cruelty@pspca.org.
