The Foxwynd Foundation has made a generous commitment to the Pennsylvania SPCA to support the purchase of a new Animal Law Enforcement transport vehicle and the renovation of aging kennels at the organization’s Philadelphia headquarters.
The grant, totaling $70,000, is part of a matching program funding a much-needed vehicle for the Pennsylvania SPCA’s Animal Law Enforcement (ALE) program—the only operation of its kind serving 18 Pennsylvania counties. PSPCA ALE officers respond to some of the most heartbreaking cases of cruelty and neglect, the new transport vehicle will ensure they can continue this lifesaving work safely and efficiently.
In addition, the grant will make possible the renovation of aging overflow kennels, which have been in daily use for nearly 30 years due to the growing number of cruelty-related intakes. Decades of heavy use have left them deteriorated and no longer up to modern standards. A renovation is urgently needed to ensure dogs—many traumatized or seriously ill—have a safe, secure, and humane place to heal while they await adoption.
“Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of the Foxwynd Foundation, we can take immediate steps to improve both the safety of animals in transport and the quality of care for dogs in our shelter,” said Christina DiBartolo, Director of Grants at the Pennsylvania SPCA. “This investment will have an incredible impact—ensuring our officers have the tools they need to fight cruelty in the field, while making sure that animals awaiting the outcome of cruelty cases receive not only medical treatment, but the security and comfort essential to their well-being.
