Dr. Lisa Germanis serves as the Medical Director and Director of Forensics. She earned her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania and subsequently completed a Graduate Certificate in Veterinary Forensics from the University of Florida. Dr. Germanis performed an internship with the ASPCA in New York City. She specializes in animal cruelty investigations, performing forensic examinations and necropsies and assisting with crime scene investigations. She is qualified as an expert witness across 18 counties in Pennsylvania. Recognized as an authority on organized animal fighting, she is frequently called upon to deliver expert testimony and educational programming on the subject. Dr. Germanis mentors veterinary students and externs and, in partnership with Penn Vet, regularly delivers an introductory lecture on veterinary forensics. She has published research on her outpatient treatment protocol for canine parvovirus. As a passionate advocate for accessible veterinary care and humane education, she promotes these resources as critical components in preventing animal abuse and neglect. She is an active member of several professional organizations including the International Veterinary Forensic Sciences Association, the Association of Shelter Veterinarians, and the Veterinary Association for Farm Animal Welfare.
