We offer spay and neuter services by appointment only every Monday - Saturday. Click the link below to schedule your appointment.
What to Expect
Everything you need to know to prepare for your pet’s surgical appointment at our Philadelphia headquarters.
Animals should not eat or drink after 11:00 pm the evening before surgery.
Check-in for all surgery patients is between 7:30 am – 8:30 am. Due to our strict schedule, your pet may not be admitted if you arrive after 8:30 am. Expect to spend 15–30 minutes for the admission process.
If your pet is up-to-date on vaccinations, please bring all vaccine records with you at the time of check-in. If you do not have your pet’s vaccine records, they will need to receive vaccinations on the day of surgery.
Payment is due at the time of check in. We accept cash, credit/debit (including Tap to Pay) and Care Credit.
Cats: 3:30 – 4:30 pm
Dogs: 4:30 – 5:30 pm
If your pet is ready for pick-up sooner, we will call you. The latest pick-up time is 5:30 PM. We do not provide overnight care.
We use dissolvable sutures, so a follow-up visit for suture removal is not necessary unless otherwise noted by your veterinarian.
Please keep the E-collar on for the next 10-14 days after surgery. No baths or swimming for 21 days after surgery.
The PSPCA does not provide after-hours or emergency care. If your pet experiences a medical emergency, please contact a veterinary emergency center.
For the safety of all our patients, dogs must remain on a leash at all times while visiting our clinic. Retractable leashes must be locked.
Cats must be in a carrier at all times. You may purchase a box carrier at the time of check in.
